Official Monza F1 Thread (with spoilers)

A little early perhaps, but to move life on from the debacle that was Spa.

It is looking interesting for next weekend:

• Mclaren are going to be looking for retribution following the dubious judgements in Belgium
• Great opportunity for Massa to leapfrog Hamilton right in-front of the Tifosi
• Ron Dennis quoted as saying Mclaren have a new aero package for this one
• Partisan crowd
• Weather looking like rain on Saturday & Sunday

Bring it on - I have a suspicion this one will be a fire-cracker....

It is a McLaren strong hold, remember last season? 1st chicane Lewis going round the outside of Kimi? McLaren have the extra pace but only if its cooler or raining, it'll be bad if its hot!

I'm going to be travelling on Sunday so I won't get to see the race. Frankly, after the debacle at Spa I'm not bothered if I miss the remaining races of this season.

Arsebiscuits didnt realise it was this weekend, im going to be at Silverstone. Shall have to sky+ it.

I would expect Massa to be strong as he will be on a new engine and they should have sorted out the previous reliability problems. Be interesting to see if Raikkonen is out to prove a point or wether Ferrari have told him to be a supporting team mate (as they ought to).

Hamilton will be strong no doubt, he beat Massa Last year. If it stays dry and all cars are reliable at the top then this could be one of the closest races of the year. Hamilton will probably have the advantage in the rain though.

Jenson Button seems to go quite well at Monza too, last year got an 8th on merit (although perhaps less of an achievement last year as it would be this year)

What I'd give to see McLaren bending ferrari over and doing them up the tail pipe!

I for one will be watching, just to see if it descends into anything like last weekend.

Just been on the news the race will be canceled if rain is a certainty and Ferrari given 1st and 2nd because they are at home

Because that is sporting, i would prefer to see proper racing. As a ferrari fan i dont sit hoping for Mclaren to break down id rather see them race to the end.

And before some bellend points out that the FIA interfering at Spa hardly constitutes proper racing - that is obviously true. But it was the stewards decision and i certainly dont sit praying gfor that sort of thing to happen.

clearly not.

the race should be a good one will be interesting to see how they get the cars out of the tight chicanes with not tc etc,

To be fair to Ferrari, it would seem that they did not protest the pass on Kimi. Whilst they are the beneficiaries of the decision, they are as innocent as, well, Hamiltion over the incident.

I'd prefer a good, fair race. I'd like to see an exciting one that get me cheering even though I'm at home. What I don't want is for idiots to run the race and ruin the result.

Remember that Mosley organised the whole system and appointed Aleen Doneley as chief steward. If we should hope for anything to blow up it should be him.

Agree entirely.

We can all but hope for a close finish, with 2 or more guys in with a shout on the last lap.

That's why we watch, in the hope of a close finish and tight racing, it's why we enjoy the start so much, because for those first few laps it's tight everyone bunched together.

As a fan of F1 since about 6 or 7 years old(I am now 55),I have to ask myself why bother to watch a race if after the podium the stewards can then change the result to suit them!
