Sleeping & the 24hr

Im coming to the 24hr race - just wondered do the teams have a sleeping rota or something to get them through the night or is everyone a hardcore red bull addict? Pit crews/mechanics - is everyone awake throughout the whole race just incase of any emergency's?

Last year there was all ways somebody up, but you just got a nap in the lorry or in the pits, alot of the guy are to busy to sleep.

I've worked all the Britcar 24's so far.. the first year I got plenty of sleep as the car spat the inside of its engine out after about 8 hours.. but since the only time i've had to put my head down is during the fog stoppages!!!!


on race day I expect I'll be up about 9am on saturday and not see a bed until i get home after leaving the circuit at 7-8 pm on sunday !!!

drivers get the easy job !! 6 hours or so in 2 or 3 shifts pah...

Some photographer nodded off in his car down at Stowe last year... when I woke up it was eerily quiet... and very foggy! I might try and time it a bit better this year.

I did the same thing the year before and woke up to some very slow sounding cars and a strange white haze in front of my eyes. I thought i'd gone partially deaf & blind until i put the radio on and found out what the score was

I missed last year as it clashed with something at Croft iirc. I'm looking forward to this one though

same thing happened to me at the Nring. wondered back to the campsite for a bit, sat down fell asleep for a moment, woke up and it had all gone quiet...

Well Im gonna be helping out where I can for 1 of the teams, the driver of our car PS1 car is driving for another team just for the 24hr - I wasnt planning on sleeping because I dont want to miss a minute of it! I've been looking forward to this for months! Im taking plenty of Relentless

I wimped out and had 15 mins sleep around 6AM.

So thats 15 mins between 7AM on Friday and 9PM on Sunday..... :-) (Yawn)

On the brightside its better not to sleep, just look what happened to Matty when he dozed off on Sunday afternoon LOL

I have a great snap of one of the pit crew guys asleep right outside the garage entrance in the sun yesterday afternoon, bless him.

I worked the gate in shifts over the weekend with the rest of the White Rabbit crew and we all got very little sleep but we did actually sleep. (I trying not to fall asleep at my desk now!)

Myself and Guy rolled around the campsite on patrol in the early hours a couple of times, sh!t coffee's in hand, heater fan blasting whilst chatting away and listening to the race on the radio.

it was that good the film crew from the event were filming him.

2 pitcrews shouting together and water on his head didnt wake him, mind u this is the guy that slept through hurricane katrina!

Pro plus works well - was mad enough to take part in a solo (yes - 1 driver...) 24hr Go Kart race many years ago. I was told at the time it has never been done before (or since?) but question if that is true?
