Broken T5??

I need a cheap AJP T5. The casing need to be intact but the internals don't matter.

I have 2 broken T5 race boxes but am currently speaking to 3 people about the sale of my Tuscan and have included them in the list of spares that will go with the car. If the sale isn't concluded in the next few weeks then give me a shout and we may be able to sort something out. The boxes aren't scrap though - one has a broken 4th, the other a broken 3rd and both have straight cut 5th gear. They would probably be better rebuilt than just the casing used....

I've got a factory fresh re-built gearbox that came with my car, just gathering dust in the garage. No use for a chevy ! Not cheap but ready to fit and go. Drop me an email if interested. Cheers Neil.

Mike you probably have all the parts so this is probably of little value..

I'm having a T5 CR box with uprated forks built for the 3000M (It helps me a little with what is short gearing as well as giving an extra ratio as I was running a 4 speed box).

I had no service exchange so had to stump up an additional 300 GBP.

I raced with a TKO in the T350 last season. I doubt it would break but the shift isn't great with the short gear lever you need in a TVR. Ok for big bhp on the road but not really suited to the track IMHO. It's also VERY heavy.

Alot depends on the oil you put in it and it is not much heavier. 30lbs or 13.6kg for the box (bellhouing and adaptor will not add more than a few to the difference.

For the AJPV8 the uprated T5 is most likely the best combo through, but even uprated (just from reading here) they still break a fair bit.

my cts box(gearboxman) lasted 3 years with no problems and no rebuilds !

cts cost under £2000 for a close ratio and the new hollinger 6 speed cost over £11.000(but i didnt pay anything near that for it)and i dont think it is any faster

13.6kg is a helluva lot of weight in a race car. The very short gear lever makes the shift baulky no matter what oil you put in it. It also makes the gear pattern incredibly close together which means you can miss gears in the heat of battle. Beefed up or CR T5 makes a lot more sense.
