Broadcasting F1 pit radio - what's the point?

It's always unintelligible and incomprehensible, and with the time delay, is largely irrelevant. (Remember Hamilton's comments during a qualification lap reaching the ITV coverage when he was on camera sitting in the car in the garage a couple of events ago?). What's the point?
It adds nothing, so should be binned from coverage IMHO.

Oh thats a shame. I really quite like it. Although they should only play the ones you can tell what they are saying.

I want more of it! Its really interesting to hear the pit to car radio - yes sometimes its hard to make out but more often than not you can understand whats being said. Its understandable that it isn't broadcast live in case of swearing.

Its just a shame we dont hear enough of the McLaren or any of Ferraris radio.

I'm sure i read someplace that as from next year all pit to car radio will be public, which should mean that radio silence of the top teams will be broken at last.

For me it adds to the theatre of the race, we definately need more of it. Also it would be nice to get more insight from the people involved during a race, such as what we received from Mike Gasgoyne {Force India} during the Monacco race.

That exchange with Sutil made all of the unintelligible stuff worthwile.

I would say it's more useful on the practice days. We had it on Kangaroo at Monaco on the thursday while they were working on setup and there was some interesting stuff going on.

I like what the BTCC do and the commentators can talk to the guys in the car. Although I'm well aware that F1 being a global broadcast that would never happen but still think its great in BTCC

They do the same on the Aussie V8 supercar coverage. Usually under the safety car. Really interesting to hear comments straight from the driver.

I like the pit radio even if it is usually 10 minutes behind the action.

Pit crew to Fisichella/Trulli: "Push! Push! Go on, pass the car ahead! Keep going!!"

Pit crew to Sato off the start: "Left! Right! Down the middle! Right! Brake!!"



And the replay of the recent Monza GP finale was made all the better by dubbing Hamilton laughing and celebrating his win over the on-board of Kimi smashing into the wall
