Along with the usual 1st GP at a particular venue's records waiting to be set & the fact that it's the 1st at night comes the interesting idea that for the 1st time the marshall will be using electronic flags.
So who, in your opinion, will be the 1st to recieve a blue light?
& the 1st to cause a yellow?
A red?
& the 1 that has me most entertained, a black signal - which is actually a black bit surrounded by a white border so not hard to miss at all really...

If this is shown after ¾ of the scheduled race distance has been completed the stewards of the meeting will be at liberty to declare the race complete and the results may be declared from the previous fully completed lap or the last lap upon which a red car crossed the timing beam in first position at the stewards discretion. All decisions of the Stewards in such instances are not open to appeal unless by special dispensation to be granted by the Ferrari Team manager.
When this is displayed all competitors must immediately cease racing and return to the grid.

Ah. So the red strategy is that if a silver car passes them after 3/4 distance, then the driver must quickly throw the red car into the wall, leaving debris all over the track. The race will be red flagged, the stewards will roll back to the last lap, and declare a result - when the red car was in front of the silver one - SNAFU.When this is displayed all competitors must immediately cease racing and return to the grid.

BTW did anyone notice that Mansell could have won the WDC in Adelaide if instead of steering his punctured Williams up an escape road, he had spread it all over the track like a real racer would - or indeed with hindsight, perhaps just parked it mid bend

The majority of F1 fans are in Europe so races have to be on at the right time for TV And if the majority of the F1 fans are in Europe, why are so many European races constantly under threat and we keep getting these fanciful Tilke designed track and gimmicky night races in places with no motor racing history or infrastructure?

On a more serious note, Hamilton will probably be excluded for not having functioning headlights!
