I quite like the idea of a traffic light system because it removes the possiblity of the lollypop man flinching when the pump nozzle is removed, or not as was the case today with another driver (DC?).
I think the way it has been implemented is the problem. Have one bloke with a button that turns the light green and have him standing out of the view of the driver. He presses it when everyone signals they have finished their job and the pit lane is clear.

The problem with Ferrari's sytem is that there is no physical barrier. With a lollipop there is a physical barrier for the driver, so that when there is a problem and the lollipop it is hurridly brought down in front of him again the driver usually thinks "s
t! Something's wrong. Better stand on the brakes then". Most of the time this works. Occasionally the driver continues, but not very often.
With Ferrari's system this physical barrier is removed. If you look at the in-car replay of Massa's stop, the lights go green signalling him to leave. The Team manager over-rides this about half a second later and the light changes to red. However, as there is nothing physical in front of him, Massa continues on his way. With hilarious results.

Ferrari should ditch the elctric system and the lollipoop and just tell massa and raikonen to "just stay there, all stopped and everything, not moving like, until this guy here leans across , knocks on your helmet, and says "off you go son!" "
I cannot beleive with the driver having mirrors, some guy speaking to him in his helmet, and all these lollipos and lights, they cannot work out a way to only drive off once we've done all the stuff we need to!!

That's not how it works, each mechanic has a button he presses when he's finished. The pit crew chief has an over-ride button to keep it red, in case of a car coming down the pitlane etc.I think the way it has been implemented is the problem. I feel sorry for Massa. He deserved to win the GP, as indeed did LH at Spa. However, I suppose it's motor racing. Still I bet Kimi's pleased the pit stop fiasco was down to the team.
I had a good laugh to hear that the McLaren team cheared the Ferrari runners as they bounded past (although not as fast as I expected).

Well as fuel stops were introduced because of Ferrrai not being able to design an engine
with a decent fuel economy or a car with a tank large enough to get to the end of the race,
I have very little sympathy for them. Ferrari have tampered with the tried and tested fuel
stop strategy and could have caused serious injury to themselves and the teams around them.
Can you imagine the FIA punishment to any other team who created such dangerous hazzard?
Fuel stops should be banned and the racing should take place on the track.
