Anyone else here confused about Hamilton?

Now Im not talking about fancying him etc. No.

What I am talking about is that on one hand it would be great to see him win the championship kinda for national pride and also as he seems a pretty cool guy and d@mn good driver.(top gear sirpc).

However on the flip side of the coin I really dont want him to win the championship as Ron Dennis has said he will give him his Mclaren F1 Lm.
Now there are only five of these in the world i am led to believe and Lewis or his brother or dad etc is bound to bvgger it up and stuff it into a bridge, hedge (ALA Carrera Gt) you name it.
Lewis is an exceptional driver but that would be his downfall with the car as his overconfidence will assumingly catch him out and it will get stuffed as I dont know if he will really appreciate what it is and treat it as such.He's only human after all.

Thoughts anyone?

however im not to keen on him anyway. somethings ive heard about him put me off although i do hope he wins title.

What leads you to believe Lewis will stuff it? Does he have a track record for binning road cars? Honest question

We are talking about one of the best drivers in the world here, obviously didn't inherit it from his dad

And anyway i'm sure it was if he won 2 championships in 3 years?! It was anyway.

He allowed his dad to drive the cgt which got stuffed whats to say he wont let his dad, bro etc drive the F1 and stack that too.

A record of crashes no not at all no real reason to expect him to crash on raod but.....

Over confidence is a given. By that I mean that by the nature of his job and his age he is bound to feel very confident for want of better wording invincible esp if he wins the title and to forget he is as human as the rest of us and that he can make mistakes.

Lewis has to win the 2008 AND 2009 championships in order to get his hands on the McLaren F1 LM, and it would be the XP1LM prototype in any case, and not one of the five.

You really don't have to worry about that as Ron will do what he has done in the past.

As in, "Errr, I don't think you understood exactly what I said, I did say I'd give you my F1 LM but it's not mine to give away. It belongs to Ron Dennis F1 LM Ltd and the articals of association (draughted as soon as I realised you might have a chance to collect) specifically state that I'm only allowed to remove it from the company in exchange for treble it's market value. However so as you dont feel hard done by here is a model".

IINM, Dennis said last year that he would give LH the car if he were to win the WDC in two of the next three seasons.
There are 5 production LMs in the world, plus the prototype. McLaren own the prototype; that is the car in question.
Of the remaining 5, 4 have pretty much never been driven. The 5th was already shunted, in a post-service test run, a few years ago. The damage was not terrible but, because of it, not all of the cars are virgins.
These cars are not the easiest in the world to drive, but I have no doubt whatsoever that, compared with a current Formula One car, the LM is a pussycat. I wouldn't worry too much about whether Lewis can handle it: there is pretty much no way that he, or any other current F1 driver, would get caught out.

Probbaly whilst driving 'gangsta' styly listening to his rapper mates on the boombox, one hand on the top of the steering wheel and seat reclined so he resembels an asian woman driving...

Let's put it this way (all public info):
3 of the 4 are in collection of Royal Family of Brunei, so you can guess how often they get driven.
For a number of years, the 4th has been sitting on something like the 19th floor of a skyscraper in Japan.

Look the mistake everyone seems to be making re my post is that lewis is a bl@@dy good driver and yes the F1 is going to be easier to drive than a formula1 car BUT Lewis is young, human and quite probably feels invincible and all it would take is him being absolutely convinced he can take a corner at x speed as the car "feels right" and getting it wrong no matter how good his reflexes and car control.

On top of all this is the question of whether Lewis would truly understand/appreciate the value of the car (not monetery) and treat it as such.

Fwiw, I was passenger in an F1 once with a guy who, although now eligible for a bus pass, used to be a world-class sports car driver. I myself was feeling very vincible and, nonetheless, this man did things with this car on road tyres on public roads that I literally did not think were possible.
Could Lewis get himself into trouble? Sure. Is it likely? No.

I'm not having a dig Jimmy (maybe a little ) I can see your point. But I'm a firm believer cars are for driving not looking at, especially Mclaren F1s'

Oh hey I dont expect him or anyone else to lock it away and never drive it as I am also very firmly of the belief that theres no point having a car and not driving it. Simply in my case I would only ever drive it on a track in all likelihood and I would never push it too close to its limits.
