Just behind the side skirt is a 10" long silencer only a 90 degree bend from the centre silencer. It actually runs 1dba less then the previous set up (which was 98 daba) and saves more than 4 feet of secondary tube (and about 2 feet of horrible flexi tube). Might just give me a bit more room at the back for some aero as well

Although from my calcs the 2.5" tube is still a smidgin small.

Sorry guys, but I was so chuffed with the result I just had to post it. I just started this game with a view to just having a go, but a few months on its turned into a bit of an obsession. But, hey, I suppose all you big boys started out like that

The question has been asked before, but I can't remember when or what the answer is. Are there any regs regarding size exhausts and how far they stick out etc?
The Chim is getting side exhaust over the winter you see.

I think there are some regs that cover that but I don't know what they are. I just made sure that my exhaust doesn't stick out more than my wheel arches.

I vaguely remember the Blue Book regs say something about the exhausts needing emerge behind the centre line of the car, but I don't recall anything about how far they stick out. The further they stick out the more vulnerable they are, so most people will keep them short anyway...

Yes it does cover the position down the wheelbase, several turbo tasmins feel foul of this a couple of years ago .. yours looks a good position and a doesnt stick out so far as to get damaged .. looks great too

Not sure if I read the right stuff, but when I was trying to understand the blue book, it did say side exhausts can't stick out further than the body work.

I did see a lot of car's at brans with side exhausts that did though, esp on some MG's

I'm sure yours will be ok.
