Draft plans for a Formula One circuit on the grounds of Disneyland Paris have been prepared, as the French racing federation considers options for the country's Grand Prix in 2010 and beyond.
F1 Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone is desperate for his sport to move away from Magny Cours, an isolated circuit in the rural centre of the country.
There are alternatives to Disneyland, which is about a half hour drive from the French capital, but it is reportedly Ecclestone's preferred venue.
The French language newspaper La Presse reports that Lagardere Group, formerly the racing car company Matra, in collaboration with Disneyland's owners Euro Disney, have devised plans for a temporary F1 track.
The circuit would use some existing roads, and require some purpose-built sections, the publication said. Lagardere Group would not confirm the claims.
It is expected that the French racing federation FFSA will publish a shortlist of four potential 2010 Grand Prix venues on 15th October, and that Ecclestone will then make the final selection.

What, exactly is wrong with Magny Cours? Other than the fact it's a bit out of the way?
All the old circuits are being replaced, the circuits in Europe were the best in the world but it seems the likes of Bernie and his chums would rather pander to the 'new markets' than those of the fans and people who really enjoy racing.
I suppose it's all about 'the money' now, and as has been mentioned, they all seem to live in fairy land.

I actually like the charm of Magny-Cours. I don't see why a circuit slightly out of the way is such a problem , and I'm sure for most people the pilgrimage to any track is part of the weekend.
Then you have the added bonus of the hotels being small and quaint - yet due to this there is the added possibility of sitting in the bar area with a couple of BMW or Williams engineers. Putting every track in or near a major city is only going to serve to sterilise the sport further. France is still a GP where it's possible for Joe Public to at least get within sniffing distance of F1 goings on.
Alternatively, we could continue at this rate and just end up holding the entire F1 calendar at one track since no-one will notice the difference.
F1 at Disneyland? That's surely going to help dispel the aura of comedy surrounding the sport...
