Please be advised that it has been decided that there will not be an end of year 2008 Dinner Dance & Awards Night.
We look forward to this event as much as you do but costs for hiring venues have sored so its been decided to hold these award ceremonies after each Championship Final round.
Therefore the “Production S1 2009 Championship” presentations will take place at the end of the race meeting at Brands Hatch on the 25th October in the Paddock Bar called the Kentagon. The exact time will be advised closer to the day.
The “Britcar 2009 Championship” presentations will take place at 19.30 on the 15th November in the Kentagon as well.
The awards will be presented as per the Championship Regulations at these times so please can we ask as many registered teams to attend to congratulate the winners as it has been a hard year for all !!!.
As we hope you can appreciate with a recession coming in we felt that money would be better spent on securing great venues for 2009 rather than a sit down meal....we look forward to seeing you all there!!

That`s a real shame. Given the cost of attending last (this) year`s event in January at Brimingham I`m very surprised to hear that it cost Britcar money. From memory it was a couple of hundred quid a head to be there. I`ve had some pretty good meals out in my time and I would be surprised to hear that that one was particularly expensive.
I could find a number of hotels who would offer deals whereby 100 guests paying £160-180 a head would generate a profit. Indeed I could even do it for 50 guests.
Oh well - what does a social gathering do for Motorsport ?

Right here's what we'll do. Sort out the food order from the local curry house am Saterday. Go racing,all protest every one for every thing, off to the Kentagon, Send Henry in the Porsche to get the food. No sorry that whould take to long better send Rod much faster. Strike up the music order the beer drink and make merry untill the early hours withdraw said protest get the awards. And off to our motor homes to sleep it off. RESULTYes I think we should organise our own end of year bash. I think it's a pretty poor show especially given the amount of money this season has cost in terms of race entries and practice fees paid to the j.t mercedes fund this year. I'll bet it's cost £1,500 to £2,000 a weekend in fees.

k on this one. The annual bash gave folks a chance to break bread and brought everyone together. It also contributed to cleaner racing because we knew the person in the other car.

OK - no separate awards bash, that maybe the right decision BUT that does not mean that you shouldn't have a really good party in the Kentagon to celebrate a years racing. Could I propose that JT looks into this.
Got a vision of a hog roast with all the trimmings, live band and free beer/soft drinks - yes, paid for by the powers that be, it wouldn't cost JT a fortune and would do more than anything to cap off 2008 and set everyone thinking about their Britcar entries for 2009! Sounds like a good marketing idea to me!!

The problem is that most people will be driving home afterwards. It isn't going to happen. If they go to the expense of enduring another night at the Thistle you might as well do the job properly.
I see no earthly reason for not holding an end of season party in the normal way. If jt won't arrange it I will in one guise or another. Out of town at the moment and still early days but leave it to me. Thinking £150 - 200 a head including a room and a decent bit of grub. Might even stretch to a wine people have heard of and a little something on the table to round the meal off with if you like port or amaretto !
Got a great live band in mind.
Will need the co-operation of britcar and would prefer to do it with their blessing. Don't pack your glad rags away just yet. You boys out in the sticks might have to buy a pair of shoes (Jemco !).

In the meantime, we have a cunning plan...
How about, we stay with the idea of the Friday evening of the Autosport Show (Friday 9th January)? Many of us will be there anyway and might need a beer or two after a couple of days at the NEC.
We would be glad to (help) organise a bash. Insuremotorsport.com might even stretch to a modest prize-giving.
Rather than going to the effort (and expense) of organising a grand black tie do, how about something straight forward? Maybe we block book a curry house for the evening, all contribute a few quid to a food and wine kitty and have a shed load of beers together, sharing stories and listening to Henry whining on about whoever it was that overtook him under yellows (in his opinion!!!).
Let me know if there's interest in this and we could get onto it.
As has been said previously, it would be great to have JT & Claire along too.

Why have you decided to be so negative, of course we want a annual piss up and we dont want to be told you have decided not to hold one. We dont want to be given bull s**t about why Donnington has been cancelled.

Happy to do something here. Marquee on the lawn, good band, sit down meal. Got 12 motorhomes here plus room for dozens more all with hook up. There is also an OK hotel 4 miles away which is £50 a night at Junc 10 of the A1. Just a thought !!!!! We have had a few weddings here with a similar idea and they have always worked well........
