Hamilton has no "bottle"

After watching the Japanese GP it would appear he is going to do his very best to give massa the WDC like he did to Kimi last year. It would seem that he lets the pressure get to him far too much despite his protestations that he doesnt. In his interview before the race he stated he didnt care where Massa was in the race and it wasnt relevant yet as soon as he'd lost the plot his pit board was just showing where he was in relation to Massa. Opinions? Is he going to throw it away again?

Agreed - Especially as after the race he said he is going to try to win the next two races at all costs?? Very different to Ron's view. Ron need to get him back on track sharpish!!!

Stop being so British. Hamilton is an electric, brave, aggresive driver who is adding some much needed drama to the sport. A proper racer.

What he meant in his interview is it doesn't matter where Massa is on the track to him DURING the race as he just concentrates on what he needs to do rather than spending time worrying about what Massa is doing. Concentrating on the job in hand at the time and look at all the other stuff later

I think anyone who gets into an F1 car has huge amounts of bottle, when I drove the F5000 Lola I was bricking it every lap! to say any F1 driver has no bottle is just crazy IMO.

He is not yet a complete driver, nor may he ever be, Alonso I believe, is just that now, calm and committed without the dramatics, Lewis my develop that skill later.

To say he has no bottle though, is either ill judged or ill informed.

Wwhether this translates to championship success is another thing. But lacking bottle, I dont think so.

I'm pretty sure he did'nt say that exactly. He said he intended to win the final two races. Then ITV-bird said "At all costs?" he replied something like "No. But we do intend to win them". Subtly different.

I took it as a confident statement of intent, perhaps to show his rivals he was'nt broken by the poor result. Winning races is surely the best way to win the championship after all

Well said. It is interesting how many people on these threads talk about which drivers they like or dislike. I can't think of many F1 drivers I'd like to have more than the one pint with. I've read a fair few F1 Bios, and even the "nice guys" come across as arrogant ba**rds, whether it be DC's "I lost my virginity at 15 and a day later had my first threesome" or Jackie Stewart's suggestion that everyone should wear personally tailored shirts so the left hand cuff is just loose enough to show off their Rolex!

Arrogance and self centredness goes with the territory if you are to work your way up through the minor classes and race wheel to wheel at 200mph. I've seen parents drumming this attitude into their 8 year olds round the kart tracks of Britain. But liking or not liking shouldn't come into the equation. Hamilton has created some superb entertainment in GP2 and F1 and has put the overtaking back into F1. If you need to be a c**t to do that, then lets have a few more of them in the sport.

"bottle" in relation to pressure not the act of actually driving the racing car. Although obviously his lack of ability to cope with pressure would be exhibited in his driving, like his awful first corner today.

Massa was the next car ahead of him on track at the time so it's usual practice to state the time to the next car.

Whereas Massa never makes mistakes. Remember Silverstone where he spent a good part of the race doing doughnuts? These guys are human. Going for it and fu***ng up is what racing is about, and is why these guys all have bottle. If they didn't go for it and didn't put themselves at risk, they'd all be Damon Hill, and we would all switch off!
