I'm a bit miffed by L.H's penalty for the first lap fiasco but thats more aimed at the Stewards who seem ridiculously over sensitive about racing moves.
However i feel gutten for Bourdais as he came out of the pits and just held his line. No crazy blocking tactics etc just holding line..
Massa took his chances round the outside and made a mistake and paid the price (at the time anyway) for it.
There should of been no penalty since Massa didn't gain from the incident but if he had then it was Massa's mistake not Bourdais.
Massa should rein his neck in and the FIA / Stewards need to take a serious look at what they are doing to the sport.

Agree with Massa 100%. He saw a gap and went for it. A racing incident, he punted Hamilton which wasn't intentional and the penalty was justified for causing an avoidable incident.

I have to agree with your sentiment on a racing incident. But, I think on reflection to what was being said by many drivers following the Spa incident ("what if there was a wall there", "could have tucked in behind", "silly out of control pass", "didn't give the place back properly" waa waa waaa etc), there is an element of disparity in what Massa is saying this time around. It also IMO shows the probable outcome had LH not taken the type of extreme, completely controlled evasive action he did at Spa.Agree with Massa 100%. He saw a gap and went for it. Also, the Spa incident did not cause a contact, or drop Kimi to the back of the field, but the penalties applied were the same (ok, implemented differently as the race had "finished" at Spa). So the penalty for causing an unavoidable accident & dropping your adversary to the back of the field, when compared to cutting a chicane and not giving back the place "properly" are the same. Crazy.
It's clear that Massa would not have risked suspension damage or knocking his front wing off by deliberately ramming Hamilton (you have to credit him with that at least no matter what one's bias may be) and it was purely a racing incident. I would contend that if that is the case, so was the Spa bus stop. No need for penalties either way, get the interfering stewards out of it and let the racing commence without fear of ludicrous inconsistently applied unnecessary penalties.

Technically he didn't spin, he was shunted off.I think at that moment, when the camera showed Ferrari celebrating at Hamilton being taken out, the stewards HAD to do something. Had that not been shown, or had they stayed calm, I think the outcome of the investigation would have been different. Could you imagine a football bench cheering because their defender breaks the leg of an opposing striker?

Massa drove with all 4 wheels off the race track into the rear corner of car that was in front of him

Massa is wrong in blaming anybody but himself, and the fact that he did so displays an arrogance and stupidity that does him no credit. Unless Massa was on the brakes up to the collision, he did not attempt to avoid the collision.
