BTCC 2009 Ginetta G50 support race

Well as the title sugests really, Ginetta are running the G50's as a support for the BTCC next year. This is to replace the Seat Cupra Cup. Just to let you all know, if you didn't already.

Sounds great. Wont they actually go round faster than the cars in the BTCC race?

Good point, i would have thought they would have. But to be fair the Formula Renault and the Porsce Carrera cup cars are faster anyway. If its the 3.5l V6 it's going to be much faster. It will be good racing though.

I had my first 'real life' look at the G50's at Donington last week. Obviously being part of the BTCC package will increase the exposure of the brand and will also increase the grid sizes. My only fear is that of driving standards if lots of 'up and coming' young drivers come into the series with a win at all costs attitude.


People have talked about it as a replacement for the original TVR Tuscan Challenge. Unfortunately the current economic situation will probably limit grid sizes but I hope it is a huge success as the car looks fantastic. Seems pretty quick too.

If only they would do a road version.

Are they running on treaded tyres or slicks? In the GTs they have to run on treaded tyres next year apparently so that'll slow them down. Are the Porsches quicker? That does surprise me if so, thought the Touring cars with their lightness and more aero would be quicker.
