Who knows the nose?

Reading a thread on here the other day about memorabilia, got me thinking of a nose cone I've had sitting in my garage for 12+ years. Anyone got any ideas what its from. Its got Alfa stickers on?...

I might be wrong, they used a lot of different colour schemes, one of the few images I could find is from the rFactor 1979 game mod below. But the width of the nose is narrower on yours, might be an Alfa powered F2 or F3 car perhaps?

One of the many liveries they ran.

I was Goolgling images of F3 cars while you were posting.

It's the only image I could find (so the livery is wrong), but the nose you've got is from a Reynard 893 F3 car.



Edited as I now realise that it's a Reynard 893 and NOT a Ralt RT33. Incidentally, that's Hakkinen in the car above.

Definitely Mika Hakkinen but he is in a Reynard 893 not a Ralt RT33 (The Ralt is the blue Leyton House car in the background).

If the nose is from the 89 season then that narrows it down to three choices from what i've been able to glean:

Gary Ward - Reynard 893 using TOMS Toyota / Alfa Romeo
John Alcorn - Reynard 893 using TOMS Toyota / Alfa Romeo
Mika Salo - Reynard 893 using Alfa Romeo engines

There was another driver running Alfa Romeo's called Antonio Simoes but he was in a Ralt RT33.

There is also the possibility that the nose is from a car ran in class B in 1990 or latterly in the ARP F3 series or similar

However the livery looks to be fairly period so i would guess at it being from 89 / 90.

Damn you Fourwheeldrift, I got excited for a brief period last night that all this time I'd had a 70's F1 nosecone, a proper bit of memorabilia stashed in my garage

You are correct sir. Yes, it is a Reynard. They also made the Formula Vauxhall cars and the nose shares some design cues. That's what happens when you rely on another website (the one hosting the picture). I was sure they said it was a Ralt!

Another vote for Reynard F3 car.

Only just seen this thread and it was the first thing that came to mind given that it isn't 'wide' enough to have been from one of the Alfa F1 cars and I can't recall Alfa having any F2 involvement, certainly in the right era.
