Odd that he goes out of his way to credit Allen with his command of the facts, and especially of race strategies.
IINM, Mark Hughes is the unspeaking authority in the booth who does all the raw analysis and then feeds it to the commentators. It's clear from Hughes's weekly column that he himself is a genuine expert; one is not so sure that Allen's insights are his own.

His views on James Allen brought a smile to my face, as I was beginning to think I was the only person in the world not to think badly of the guys commentating efforts (his Mother aside).

Question for any in the know, How do you correctly pronounce the corner at Interlagos, said by some as " Young Cow " ?

Juncao is apparently Portuguese meaning junction. Still not sure of the pronunciation though.

Yeah some of the stuff Allen comes out with is absolute bks (the labrador strapped to the drivers head stands out ) but if you have ever listened to another commentary, in the US for example, you realise that Allen does a reasonable job.

Though I do wish he would not do a race recap so often, and keep his stupid analogies to himself.

Having just caught up on the Sprint Cup from Atlanta, the commentary is streets ahead - informative, accurate, funny and involving. And they have the sense to just shut up once in a while (there was a cracking piece off a restart where we had the roofcam for video and the just spotter's directions in a fine, unintelligible Southern drawl, so you really understood what the driver had to deal with).
I appreciate other US teams are not so good, but the Daytona Prototypes team also do a great job of making it sound interesting, despite the world's worst pundit who invariably makes the wrong call on a situation.

People often confuse pronounciation of 'J' between Portugese and Spanish.

Actually it is Junsow... J is pronounced J here in Brasil and there is a ç on the c to make it an s....
