The latest Championship positions for Britcar ar at the link below, this updated list includes dropped scores calculations.

The tightest battle is for the Britcar GT Cup with the Barrett/Persson/Shepard car on 156, the Maserati/Wright car on 139 and the Firman Bell car on 136.

When you take the dropped scores into the equation the Maserati/Wright car cannot overhaul the Barrett/Persson car but due to the fact that Firman/Bell are yet to play their joker they can potentially overhaul the leaders. Looking at the dropped scores, Barrett/Persson can only increase their total by 4 points (win, pole and fastest lap equaling 22 and they would drop one of their 18 scores)giving them 160. Firman and Bell therefore need to score 42 points as they would drop an 18 off of their total and that leaves them 42 points behind. So if Barrett/Persson win with pole and/or fastest lap then they win the championship. If their total score from the weekend is 20points or less then Firman/Bell can overhaul them but need to at least win or come second with pole and fastest lap.

In the Britcar Production Cup the Lawson/Wilds/Wilds BMW is 15 points clear of second placed Watt/Wilson/Duke and they still have their Joker to play which should push them further into the lead of the Championship. Currently in third is the Moulsdale/Kent M3

Confusing, yes, intriging, yes. It'll be a corker of a show down.

The Championship positions also show the Production S1 final results and the Intersport duo of Wayne Gibson and Kevin Clarke's Championship victory by 4 points from the TGM Honda Integra of Will and Tom Gannon.

You could always come and play on your own and try and win a Championship yourself

We can all bring in professional drivers, but does that not take away the whole purpose of racing?

I remember a story told to me by Mike Wilds, where someone asked him to wear their helmet just so he could win? What is the point?

I was lucky enough to win overall last year and another win would be fantastic, but a runner up would also be pretty good! Not sure how i would feel about getting a win based on someone else gaining all the points? If you did win i guess you would have the trophy presented to Jay wouldn't you?

Henry and i know you two are getting on a bit, but get down the gym and get your NVG's and come racing!

In a series where we can spend anything we like on any performance enhancements we like to make us faster and still fit within class rules, wheres the difference in having an experienced racer like Jay in the car with Rod and Jan?

At least their advantage is obvious and allot cheaper than some less obvious ones and you chaps all have a bench mark to up your games to!!

First things first, Jay is not a professional driver, he has never been paid to race, he does not earn a living from racing. Jan and I did the first race of the season on our own but found it hard going and although we had our best finish of the season thus far,(ironic) of 4th overall, we did not however find the experience over enjoyable. It took Jan a few days to recover, some of you know his handicap, to those who don't, believe me, he has to push through some difficult times when racing and I also find that after an hour in the car, I could do with a rest. I don't do gyms or run around parks in all weather so that I can act and perform like someone half my age, no, I accept the limitations that present themselves as age creeps up on one and still hold to the most important of principals when participating in any pastime or sport, and that's to enjoy every minute of it.

I understand the moral of the story Mike Wilds told you, amazing that someone would ask him to do that, as a professional or past professional driver, he may have had a few like that, what he doesn't get is people asking him not to race because he is too good and others can't raise their game.

If we win, and there is still some doubt at this point, but if we win, Jan, Jay and I will be very proud of our achievement for what we have all done individually, and as a team. Jay is part of our team and happens to be a very good driver, but I can name you several in Britcar who a capable of beating him, one in our own class has twice snatched fastest lap or fastest qualifying time, so it not as if Jay is some kind of anomaly. Jan and I have spent nearly 14 years in Motorsport, almost entirely self funded, some 8 years in Tuscans where at one point we ran a 4 car team, two years in BGT, a couple of years where we did very little, and the remainder in Britcar. 16 different drivers of varying abilities have past through our team, Jay Shepard being one of them that we assisted back in 2002 in the hope that a bigger team would pick him up, unfortunately they didn't and that was that. On the other hand, my first team driver was Martin Short, enough said, our second team driver was Jamie Campbell-Walter, he was picked up and hasn't looked back since.

In real terms Jan and I have a great love for racing but we don't do it exclusively for ourselves, we like others involved that share our passion, so no mate, we won't feel unworthy if we do win, we'll be elated and the man that deserves to be presented with the trophy would be Jan, for he has overcome many obstacles to get to that position and done it without complaint or excuse and always with style.

Finally, If you guys win, we will be the first to shake your hands for you would have beaten us on the track where it counts and where everything that happens be it good or bad luck, forms the mould that champions are honed from, so as you say,

May the best team win, may fortune smile on you and your efforts as I hope it does on ours.

I have to say Belly i disagree without Rod and Jan obviously they would not be in this position. Both Rod and Jan's years of experience shines through with there ability to keep out of trouble and keep it on the black stuff. Also at times both there lap times and consistency could embarrass many younger drivers. A true team effort through and through and if they win it will be well deserved

Edited to add there lap times and consistency are especially good when its cold wet and dark or even snowing!!
