Farewell Coulthard
Discussion
I hope he gets an opportunity to commentate! Even at the end, his sense of humour stayed with him:
Louise: "You couldn't really do much to avoid that?"
DC: "Well, I could have qualified a few places higher..."
Shame he didn't get to do his 'donuts'.

Yah, loved that comment from him - would have been cool to see him do the donuts as well. He didn't give a damn about the possible fine. Good guy, he'll stay around the sport for a good while - either in some advisory/testing type role?Louise: "You couldn't really do much to avoid that?"

He was the man to beat at McLaren before Hakinen came along and became Ron Dennis's favourite. Frank Williams also made the comment when faced with choosing between Damon Hill and DC that he made the wrong choice.
For me he has always been a gifted but a bit too nice. As the americans say "Nice guys come last"

If you mean Coulthard then yes i agree and he will be missed. Felt gutted for him retiring at the first corner.
Tom - if you're going to be picky about people's spelling on here, make sure you get it right. "I" as the first person singular personal pronoun is always capitalised.Kurgen said:

Eh? Hakkinen was at McLaren in 1993, DC didn't join until 1996.tim the pool man said:

Would be a better commentator.. definitely a mediocre driver! based on being at 2 of the best teams that were winning titles, but only managed 13 wins..
