TBH also fairly pointless in a 20 min sprint race, and fecking expensive circa 2 grand for a crappy analogue system and double that for digital

I seem to remember seeing some 'intercom' style systems that actually worked using mobile phones. I suppose you can't rely on having cell coverage at a race circuit, but in places where that's available it would seem a very cheap and easy solution.

yep you can get those in DT's might prove expensive for a 24hr race depending on your tariff.


I used some of the digital radios for an hour this year, and the difference was amazing compared to trying to work out what was being said on the analogue ones... and you could just talk away merrily all the way around the circuit, rather than waiting till they were at the top half !! quite a long delay before you could talk mind

I think the Blue Book prohibition includes any form of pit to car communication devices except the good old pit board, so a cell phone system would also be caught by this.
