Do you think Audi have effectively decided on "doing a a Porsche" by minimising the factory input and concentrating on developing customer cars with the R8 GT3 and potentially the R10 TDI?

Despite the world economic woes i bet there will still be a few rich types left fancying there chances in either of those.

FWIW, that press release came out yesterday morning, before the Honda news, and was a follow-on to what Audi have been talking about for awhile.

TBH - it might be alot more entertaining. Come to think of it, the Top Gear track is more exciting, and those Suzuki Liani's are much easier to finance ..

Irrespective Audi bought the R8 out as a direct competitor to the 911 and they are nowing doing a similar thing with the R8 GT3 which will go up directly against the hoards of Porsche GT3's.

To get back to my original point, if i may, do these announcements by Audi mean that they intend taking a similar approach to Porsche in having a limited factory team motorsport programme reinforced by a greater customer team offering?

Audi also recently announced that they are intending to produce a follow-up to the R10 called the R15.
