Anyone read Crashed and Byrned ?
Discussion
I've read it - he comes across as a very arrogant individual with a huge chip on his shoulder and sour grapes for dessert. But he's happy to admit it, which goes some way to making up for it.
There are many entertaining anecdotes, and it is quite well written. It's worth reading, but don't make a special trip to the shops.
Personally I find his style refreshing, if a tad pretentious in places. Trying to be both poetic and analytical is a hard trick but he manages to pull it off.
However, his Autosport column is no substitute for Roebuck's, it's often difficult to know which page to read first these days!

Thank God MotorSport now has Roebuck. I only really skim through Autosport. It is still good for results, but it's so sensationalist now - like reading an automotive tabloid. I get Autosport, MotorSport, Octane and Top Gear on subscription and Autosport is the least exciting I'm afraid. It makes me sad as I started reading it as a 3 yr old hooked on cars.
Hughes is pretentious in the same way as a GCSE student. But he will spout some stuff which has me cringing, as if everyone else in the world has been looking the other way, and he is the only one who's been watching GP racing. I respect his position as an authority on driving technique, certainly when I was stodd at Pouhon, I didn't see the subtlties in style which he did.
If only DSJ was still around...
