World's Fastest Indian (land speed record)

Burt Munro set several world land speed records in the 50s and 60s, among them was the record for the fastest motorcycle with an engine less than 1000cc. The speed set was 295.453 km/h, set at Bonneville on 26 August 1967.

How is it that the record still stands? Surely a recent MotoGP bike could break it easily?

No idea either. Maybe there is a sense of tradition in the american land speed crowd that protects records like this ... When Bellof's name is replaced in the 'ring history that will be a sad day (assuming he still holds the lap record)Great movie, too.
