Renault F1 plan redundancies

Unfortunately, with the cost cutting measures which are being introduced it is inevitable that there will be redundancies in almost all the F1 teams. They won't need the test team crew, less people to work the wind tunnels, less people on the engine and transmission development side, less people on aero development etc. etc.
It is a real shame for all those affected, especially as many probably have pretty specialist skills which may not be easily transferable to other organisations. I don't suppose MM cares about that side of his plans however.

It is very sad for those who are losing their jobs, but when people talk about reducing F1 expenditure from 200 million a year to 50 million a year, then massively reducing headcount is going to be an implicit part of that. When you're not running a wind tunnel 24 hours a day and you're cutting CFD processing and eliminating in season testing, then of course you're going to be letting a lot of people go.
You can't keep 800-1000 people on the team and halve the budget, it doesn't add up.
