How about F1 launching at the ASI Show?

Surely, with all the motoring press in one place, fans, and industry big wigs, it would make commercial sense to hold car launches at the Autosport show. Would certainly make the tickets more attractive. We all know that cars are continually developed, but they could surely put on a stunning display of the new chassis in new livery and save having to have the press go to 12 different launches.

Just a thought as Max 'the spank' Moseley is trying to save costs across the whole of F1...

They all seem to do the unvieling at headquarters or controlled areas so that other folks don't get much chance for sneaky peeking about........or just general workshop manual theft.

Imagine the cost of getting a new F1 team to the NEC, and then securing all the gear, and then keeping the chavs off it.

All of the reports mention that the cars we're seeing at the launches aren't going to be the cars we see on the grid in Melbourne so I'm not too bothered what they do until first practice.

It's been done before - Stewart and BAR are the last I can remember. Problem is that most teams aren't ready to launch that early or that it would tie them down (Toyota have launched in December before). Besides, why would they want the general public there?

Also, F1 tends to have little connection with grass roots motorsport - and doesn't seem to want to encourage these connections either.
