SPA Race Available

Talking to John at the Autosport show he has been offered the chance to run a race at SPA on 1/2/3 October.

This would be an all comers British sports car race so would include us and the likes of MG and Ginetta etc, as we can have a very big grid.

Number of laps and cost would depend on the number of takers, so we're looking for interest now so it can move forward.

There is the possibility of arranging transporters to take the cars to make that a bit simpler as well.

If your interested one way or the other please let me have you comments here.

Graham, would the national B license suffice or would we need an international?

IIRC National B is fine as its usually run as a UK race ( similar to when the tasmin challenge went to france)

It just happens to be somewhere else <LOL>

You will need a 2000 spec suit rather than the 1986 one. although you'll need a 2000 spec suit next year in the uk as well..

I am in like flynn, although I would recomend that as well as voting, each driver notes here whether they are in or out, otheise anyone with access to pistonheads could be voting who arent related to the series.

Yep, I'd be in too, perhaps I can run the Tuscan and the G20 and bring the flatbed again!!
(Probably maybe not judging by my performance loading it at Silverstone!!).
With regards to this then the sooner we know for sure then the sooner we can 'ringfence' the appropriate weekend!

We are in ofcourse...that'll be twice this year then!

FYA, we will be supporting if all goes ahead, which means two race mechanics and two trucks full of spares/equipment.

This means all can do 4 wheel alignment/camber/caster adjustments, carry less kit yourselves. We can also transport your car/cars there so you can arrive and drive if you wish.

JR will also be taking Tussie spares/parts along incase they are needed etc.

So, sorted then...

Regarding costs...

the same as a normal meeting except...

Ferry £150 rtn (for Van/Trailer Combo on Norfolkline) Chunnel = £220
Fuel £70 derv
Circuit costs (+£300 on double header weekend ie £600) based on 20cars.
and
a bigger bar bill as you are RACING AT THE BEST CIRCUIT IN THE WORLD!!!!

so its actually very good value. Doesn't cost me much more to go to Spa than it does to go to cadwell!

In theory the only extra cost should be the ferry crossing. JR is aiming for a LOT more than 20 cars. Its not worth running with only 20 cars. I think the circuit is licenced for about 60 !!!

Thats why John is talking to other series as well to make it an interesting race and to put on a good show.

I think he's got some MGB V8's signed up and Im working on th sprite guys at the moment.. plus Ginetta's etc..

It will cost more than a weekend at angelsey, but It shouldnt be That much more.. Its down to numbers, and possibly the value of stirling shifting a bit before then !!!

Andy, I'm not the sharpest (as you've probably already guessed) are you suggesting 600 GBP for the entry?
