If your into rallycross like me you need to be at Lydden Hill on april bank holiday weekend.
Its the return of european rallycross, the FIA European Rallycross Championship. Hasnt been in the uk for 12 years i believe.
All the british drivers will be there and peeps like marcus gromholm and kenneth hansen.
I cant wait so get it in your diaries if you like abit of door banging racing.

Haven't been for years and years but already got this is the diary.
I might even try and post some pics of John Taylor, John Smith, John Welch and John Button - not to mention John Greasley - for general amusement.
eta. Can you still get homemade bread pudding in the caff under the commentary box????

I've been going for a while now, friend of mine is a member of the Rallycross trust, problem is i'm working that weekend with the formula ford boys 
So i'll miss it this year!
Deadly Doris's is no longer there!, Dorran (i think from what i heard) brought the circuit up and given it a complete overhaul, with the pits now extended and fully tarmaced, a new race control building and other improvements to bring the track up to FIA specifications from what i remember.

Not sure it's been confirmed yet, but there was a strong rumour at the end of last year that after his retirement from the WRC, Marcus was trying to put a deal together to do the European Rallycross Championship this year, but don't know what in.Sf_Manta said:

Had my first visit last year and it was as you describe. It had a very Mallory Park feel. I was amazed at the number of spectators there, a far cry from the 4 sheep and Daffid who I saw at Pembrey earlier in the year. and then promtly won it, beating multiple ERC Champion Kenny Hansen

The Fiesta 4x4T16 Gronholm used was around the 600 mark so....yes Here's a YouTube clip of Marcus winning the 08 Swedish ERC round.

I remember sitting under the old Graham Hill straights Banner as they came across the Knife edge at bRands in 600 - 900bhp 4x4 monster in 85ish time, 4x4 911's and Beetles!
I saw those when i was a lad on Grandstand, with Gallop in his bi turbo 6R4! Recently got to see the 85 European Finals at Brands, recorded by the same friend who took me to my first meeting 4 years ago, there was a BMW M3 with an Xtrac 4WD system... and the 2.3 M3 engine knocking 900bhp, thanks to Ex- Williams F1 Turbo charging gear (My friend saw it in person I remember sitting under the old Graham Hill straights Banner as they came across the Knife edge at bRands in 600 - 900bhp 4x4 monster in 85ish time, 4x4 911's and Beetles!
) and watching this video shows this monster lighting up all 4 slick tyres at the merest sniff on the throttle Gibson still runs a international spec 6R4 even now, Durran still runs his RS200 be it now with his son at the wheel with him driving a Cosworth YB powered Fiesta. There's an Opel Astra about, a 306 and Xrara ex WRC car and a good number of Escorts, Focus's and Fiestas all with 600+ bhp engines.
The noise when they take off the line is incredible with all the turbos going antilag crazy and this 6R4 howling it's V6 wail with them, more often than not getting the drop on them off the line!
