It's not that surprising. What is quoted as the lack of brotherly love shown over Stepneygate was really McLaren against the Todt regime. The feeling I got at the time was that Todt and mosley were hand in glove. Once, for whatever reasons, Todt fell out of favour with the ferrari hierachy they became part of the pitlane.
What generated the new era of cooperation (apart from on-circuit hopefully) was Mosley. Fresh from him losing the vote of confidence with just a simple majority he seemed to think he could do what he wanted to F1. The manufacturers, who have put so much into the sport formed FOTA as a block to the great dictator and as protection of their investment.
This instance, with the press coverage, seems to me to be a publicity event to highlight that it is the teams which are the ones concerned with what the spectators want. let's face it, they have the field to themselves with both mosley's and Ecc's history.
