GP2 Asia series - decline?

Kobayashi is leading? It seems the GP2 Asia series has gone down the drain. There were a number of distinguished drivers in the series last season, but this season's showing is... lacking.

Will this series last? Or is it going to be yet another mediocre feeder?

Kobayashi always had speed, only now he seems to be hooking it up to successful race weekends.

I don't think the series has a bad field - there's a decent mix of drivers experienced at this level and those who are stepping up. Take Giedo van der Garde for example, runaway champion in World Series last year but stuck outside the top ten in GP2. I don't think the standard is all that bad.
