Surely amongst the hundreds of thousands of members we have here on PH, someone must know if the BBC will be using it by now?

Or are the BBC so anti-car that they have purged the organisation of any PH'ers they found?

Did the BBC return to their old fashioned Match of the Day music when they got the rights back from ITV?

I don't think there will be a bookie out there who would take a bet on The Chain being used.....it's that likely.

(They may do a new version of it though, like BBC Cricket did with 'Soul Limbo' at one time...horrible!)

I'm not sure if there is a petition as such but the Top Gear website has a sort of one.

I'd just say that if the BBC don't use The Chain for the first race then I think they will for the second race

Don't forget that The Chain was really the BBC's theme music for the Sunday night highlights programme. It often wasn't used for their live coverage - which on may occasions was embedded in some other programme such as "Sunday Grandstand" - which had its own theme.

a local kart rack used to use "the chain" at the start of its races. at "that point" early on in the song where it all kicks in the lights would go green. those who knew the song could pre-empt the lights though and get a good start as the others sat there on the grid...

It's a great theme - the piece of music is decent enough, but when combined with the F1 footage it provokes some kind of visceral response that is quite thrilling. It makes F1 seem exciting!

Each to their own and all that, I grew up with that as the theme to F1 and love it for that reason only !

I just hope we dont get something like the bilge they did for WRC.
