Perhaps this is to generate some interest for Donnington, apologies if it's a repost but Senna remains no.1 for me...

I was there! In the infield so I could see from the Crainer curves to Coppice.
He was already passing Schumi, then immediately did Wendlinger. Stormed up to Hill like Hill was driving an F3000 car and went past easily. Next lap he was several seconds ahead of Prost.
All the crowd were looking at each other asking how the hell he just did that.

His first lap at the following GP, Canada, was even more remarkable. You couldn't attribute that to set-up.

This race crops up many timeson PH because everybody atributes it to being Senna's greatest. The ironic thing is that Senna didsn't look on it as anything special. He felt that he relied too much on the technical gizmos incorporated in the 1993 McLaren and that it wasn't a true reflection on his skill.
I still think his drive in the wet in the low ranking Toleman at Monaco in 1984 and his 1985 win at Estoril are his best drives.

A great lap and race by Senna, very memorable. It was a very weak field though with Prost driving only 7/10th's and Damon and the others not really in the same class.
In what way was it a weak field? Prost and Hill (both in vastly superior equipment to Senna)

I was there too, outfield on the Esses. Great day and great drive.
Apart from the amazing first lap, Senna stopped out on slicks in very poor but improving conditions and that was where he gained a lot of his time. Iirc, he lapped everyone bar Hill, (he let him unlap him with a few laps to go).
Senna was certainly the best driver in my lifetime.
