So Loeb made it 2 out of 2, despite Hirvonen's best efforts. He's proved the Citroen and he are better than the Ford car and drivers, and with no other competition due to Subaru and Suzuki exiting, and still no Mitsubishi comeback, looks like he'll dominate the season. Anyone else got bored of WRC?
Bored is an understatement. I got bored of the sport in 2004. 5 years on and i can no longer even call it a sport, 2 teams left in wrc just goes to show the fia know about making successful series.
Definitely not a spectator sport due to overpricing and over policing at the hand of annoying jobsworths called Marshall's. Again we can thank the fia for this.
Yes the cars are a great spectacle if you can get close enough but that's were the excitement ends.
The one horse race at the front is just the icing on the cake.

I've been bored of it for about 3 or 4 years now, its the same as when Schumacher was winning everything in F1 it must be time for loeb to find something else to do and the fact that I have a complete hatred of Citron winning everything when they can't even screw a half decent road car together doesn't help

Bored the hell out of me, and the coverage by Dave TV is truly crap, Dave TV turned the WRC into a bloody advert to promote Red Dwarf for god sake. It got to a point where I could not watch it anymore and turned over to a different TV channel. The WRC is at an all time low, I cannot see the point in it really. Ah, the WRC haters are back.
Here's a thought, if you don't like it don't watch it.
Yes it is unfortunate that Subaru and Suzuki pulled out and I too was apprehensive as to how the season would kick off.
But being a proper rally fan, one that doesn't live in the past I thoroughly enjoyed Norway. Both on Eurosport and on Dave.
The snow was proper and challenging, almost as fast as tarmac and the battle between Loeb and Hirvonen was very close - showing that Hirvonen does have the stones to beat Loeb.
Seeing Solberg in a Citroen was odd but brought home the fact that Wilson's days have to be numbered.
If both PG Anderssen in and old Skoda and Solberg in an old Citroen can beat a latest spec Focus must mean something?
I will be looking forward to Cyprus and indeed looking forward to watching Loeb's amazing driving talent.

It's not a case of us living in the past, I can't imagine anybody thinking that the sport is a patch on how it used to be. Too few cars, too few teams, not much depth of talent, repeated (short) stages, no challenge, no Safari... I could go on.

I'm not watching it - and that's the problem, more and more people are switching off. I saw 20 minutes of the Rally and it just doesn't excite me any more. That's nothing against Loeb - undoubtedly he is a very fine driver but I want to see him being challenged, I don't want to know who the winner is before the teams even set off from the factory.Here's a thought, if you don't like it don't watch it.
The real pity is that I don't have Eurosport, otherwise I'd tune into the IRC - with the Col du Turini and night stages, this year's Monte sounded like the best for years.

Yes Loeb is a master but when he can flat out beat the Finns on snow and Hirvonen is shaking his head in frustration and disbelief that he got beat on a stage he is adamant he couldn't have completed faster, it says a lot for the car Loeb's in.
On the last stage of the event, with few corners and lots of straight stuff, Loeb beat Hirvonen by over 2 seconds. That suggests they have a shedload more power.
I think the WRC is on its last legs and that a change back to cars homologated using a significant production run must be the way to go. As it is, it's rallying prototypes. In what coverage there is on TV, potential punters are not seeing anything that they can relate to, or go out and buy.
Regardless of all these Citroen wins I still wouldn't buy one. Which surely negates most of the point of building a WRC car in the first place.

more likely that Hirvonen made a mistake. he was yard for yard equal up until that point, and there were plent of straights upto that point to. I guess he just went a l;ittle too hot into a corner, which killed his exiti speed. I think that that is the difference between Loeb and Hirvonen, Loeb just doesn't make a mistake.Edited by stockhatcher on Monday 16th February 16:22

erm, i thought Wilson did better here than at Ireland. The conditions being more consistant gave him a better chance to be competitive. I didn't realise that Wilson had the latest spec focus though. I thought the M2 teams were a generation behind. However Wilson findhed 10 secs behind an ex world champ, in his home country, not a bad shout for a lad of Wilsons experience. He finished ahead of Urmo Aava, in the same car. Henning, only finished 4th, so you have to say that if the front runners are still in the rally fourth is the best you can do. The only other British drive I could see who could do a better job is Meeke. Higgins, Wilks et al, would do about the same, at least in the short term. Of more importance is Danny Sordo, he should be the first to go, as he has experience, the fastest car, and came 5th. The jury is still out on Wilson, but he does need to develop a win or bust approach soon.
