Just watched that, and i have to agree that was an exciting finish. I watched some Nascar last year, thinking it was gonna be st, but was quite suprised at some of the tactics, and some of the racing was quite exciting, but on the whole that stuff happens at the end, so you watch a 500 lap/mile race, but the only real exciting stuff happens in the last 5 mins.

As i said though, i definately have more respect for Nascar than i used to, and would be well up for going to see one live.

A plate race with no cautions in the last 10 laps. Don't see that these days.

The last 50 laps or so of the second Dover race last year were edge of the seat stuff, I was expecting at least two of the Roush cars to end up in the wall before it was done.

I made it half way through that video, and had to close it. I almost fell asleep, and that wouldn't look great in the office.

Because they changed the regulations after again and again and again. Now it's 3 abreast all the way no one can get past or even come back if they are passed, just big accidents waiting to happen like last Sunday. Still at least it pleases the "fans" to see a big wreck.

Kevin Harvick won the Bud Shoot out the week before last & was the last runner by a mile at one point in that race. He very nearly won the 500 on sunday from way back in the pack, they do something the F1 boys can't (due to the aerodynamics) 'Drafting'. I personally find it very exciting watching the cars nose to tail (sometimes even 'bump drafting') & door to door at 190-200 mph. They use team mates to help each other gain & even overtake (shock horror!) in the draft. Racing that close it's inevetable something could happen.

Agreed DOT was a very crap film, but they are allowed to Bump Draft on the 'straightaways'. Not through the turns though.

Thing is, if NASCAR were run in Europe it would be tagged an endurance race, with most races around the 4 hour mark-only differnece being they only have one driver in each car. Yes, the real exciting stuff happens on the last few laps but the rest of it is the build up to that. The tactics are often quite subtle but can be fascinating. Yes there are crap races as well (usually involving Matt Kenseth or Jimmie Johnstone!)
Lets face it, endurance racing aint always that exciting and a close finish is pretty rare, doesnt mean it isnt damn interesting to watch though.
