BMW M1 - Silverstone

Does anyone know what the BMW M1 was at Silverstone for? I spotted it in 1 of 1st garages with a team of people looking to be working on it but didnt see it on track on Saturday.

Had the McInerney’s boys names on the side so im guessing belonged to them!

Eclipse run the M1 for the McInerneys in the classic/historic series that supports the LMS.

I imagine that they had to remove it from the truck to get the other cars out, and provide working space, plus, as has been proved here, to have it on display incites interest.

It was there so that the graphics guys could work on it.

Off to Catalunya for this weekend's opening CER round.

According to his biog on the Mosler site, current Mosler driver Kevin Riley drove one of those in the original series. Awesome car, it brought back a lot of memories..

This is from a quick test we did on the GP circuit a couple of weeks ago.

ETA: It, and its sister (the Coors car), are just wonderful, gorgeous machines. Sean and I are both proper bobble-hatted, anorak wearing nerds when it comes to '70s sportscars, so we're in nirvana when playing with or talking about the M1s. And they'll do 1:59s around the GP circuit, which isn't bad for a 30 year old car, with no brakes, on 16-inch cross plies.
