Sponsor disappears

Mutua Madrilena are going to pull out of sponsorship of Renault at the end of this season.

I know it is easy to read too much into such simple facts - but isn't that great fun.

Isn't Mutua Madrilena part of Alonso's deal with Renault? Does that mean he won't be at the team next season?

I'm not one to spread runours of course . . .

You don't have to go too far back. Motor racing pre-1968 was much like that.

I doubt it, most of the coubtries they race in dont allow direct advertising from them anymore.

Maybe those countries will have to relax their rules if they want F1 to race in their country !

There are plenty of companies wanting to advertise at F1.

However, there aren't that many who are prepared to pay what the teams want (they say they "need", ah-errr).

They will have to reduce how much they want to get sponsorship. All teams will have to get used to less budget, there's a recession and credit crunch you know.

Maybe the majority just couldn't care about F1 !

I like watching it, but am not the slightest bit bothered whether there is a UK race or not.
