It's a pretty good day out too, there's not many merchandise booths so you have more space to roam about. Last time I went they ran the F1 car in the rain for 2 corners before the guy driving pranged it

That Guy was Rene Arnoux....he gave up driving current spec F1 cars after that and now handles his old turbo cars instead. SHould be a good Jean Ragnotti show this year. Good times.I went to the first couple of years of this at Donington, but the second year left me cold. The queues were monumental and a section of the crowd was p*ssed up and abusive. Left quite a bitter taste. I certainly wouldn't sacrifice a trip to Goodwood for it, free tickets or other wise.
Last year's LMS event at Silverstone was another case in point. I applaud all efforts to get people through the gates, but that was stupid. The queues were such that I spent 1.5hrs waiting to get in, thus missing the first half hour of the race. When I finally got in, the parking attendants didn't know where to put anyone. I got a decent space, but my dad (who came from the M40) found himself nearer to Stowe School than to the circuit. When I eventually got in, most of the stands were empty, but the merchandise area was rammed with folk buying Lewis t-shirts, making navigating the circuit anti-clockwise virtually impossible.
Great to get more people through the gates and watching the racing, but frustrating when you go to such events annually without such toil and those with the freebies don't actually seem to want to watch the cars on-track.
