Virgin Brawn or Brawn Virgin

Not sure it'll be this weekend but I reckon it'll just be Virgin F1.
There's no need to develop the Brawn brand as there isn't one and Ross Brawn is sensible and clever enough to not insist on his name being on the car.
I concur Mr Holmes, I do believe you may be right. There's no need to develop the Brawn brand as there isn't one and Ross Brawn is sensible and clever enough to not insist on his name being on the car.

I'm going for Virgin Brawn till the end of the season and Virgin F1 next year.
Yep that's my final offer. (Till someone comes up with a better idea!

Isn't' Branson's usual modus operandi to supply the Virgin brand as part of the deal in return for a 49-51% stake with the view to floating or selling the JV within a certain time horizon? Virgin Media, Brides, Wine, etc....How does Brawn F1 fit into that structure?
It's a variation on the theme; Branson buys the advertising & marketing rights to the car, for say £30m; and sells packages with or without logos on the car to other companies. Any money he makes from those deals go exlusively to Virgin. The more he sells, the less it has cost Virgin for the sponsorship deal.If they could pick up some sponsorship from these people:

they could call the team Brawn Again Virgin...
Sorry I'll get my coat...
Edit, damn, beaten to the punchline.

From what I can see Virgin will stump up the £30 million allowed to fund a F1 team and will then resell some advertising on the car, probably generating a profit. I suspect that they will also cater for the sponsors, therefore giving Ross a guaranteed budget without the hassle of organising the hospitality.

I like the thinking there. I'm only surprised, in fact, that Bernie hasn't mandated this approach: sign the new Concorde agreement, we'll give you your £30m budget in return for the advertising rights on all the cars...Scuffers said:
to be honest, I don't see Branson stumping up the kind of cash required for this...
Based on his reactions to interviews on the first race (knew bugger all) and normal modus operandi I don't think he had much in the way of a plan; what they have bought at the moment is a small 3rd tier sponsorship slot on the Brawn car and they will have got that at a discount. However in terms of exposure they have basically got the title sponsorship on the winning car. I suspect is nothing more than they saw an opportunity for some good exposure on the cheap.
