Is Brawn the Key?

Just thinking today (I know, my head hurts now)...

Ferrari dominated. They had Brawn. This season, they appear to be a bit shambolic, all over the place. Yet Brawn appear to be (well, up to Q3 today) dominating.

So, is it just Brawn that makes THAT much of a difference?!?!!??

Nope its money and time that make the difference,remember the Brawn car was eing developed all of laast season whilst the donkeys were challanging for the title.
This year the cars are not evolved much from last year as the rules have changed dramatically,in a few months they anf mclaren will be at the sharp end again

It's not just money and time though. BAR had plenty of both for their debut in 1999 and it went badly. Toyota the same in 2002 and although that was a bit more successful it wasn't exactly what they were hoping for.

As for it just being money, I can't see how that's the case. When Brawn was with Ferrari they rather dominated. Even when Schui left they were in with a shot at the title (though the team made some errors which I put down to new management and teething troubles as a result), then Brawn goes, and it appears to have all gone a bit t**s up. I mean, last time I checked the faster cars tended to head out and win qualifying to get better grid slots, not forget to go back out on circuit etc.. It just seems that they suddenly are falling apart a bit. I am going to assume that their budget hasn't been destroyed to that degree...

Let's face it, some of the "poorer" teams are doing rather well right now!! (Of course I do accept that some of the rule changes assist in this regard to keep costs down)...

But I cannot imagine that Brawn racing have the biggest budget out there.

Yep, it's not just money, Ross seems to be a great organiser of people and a great motivator(he got those Italians to focus for years).

Brawn have a small budget, but remember the car has been developed for over a year when Honda threw shedloads of money at it.

If you look at who is at the top now its the middle ranked teams from last year who started developing this years car much earlier than usual.

Its difficult for teams to catch up as there are tighter limits on wind tunnel and track testing.Thats why teams abandoned last years season early.

I see your point BUT when it was a Honda car it wasn't running in Pole or even in the top 6... Yet now, they are having a poor race if out of the top six?

Can't be THAT much progress over summer especially given the cloud hanging over them...

Thats the point,the car they were running was abandoned,hence it was so poor,they started developing the current car early last season.That coupled with the major rule changes gave them a head start this year.The rest will catch up rapidly
