GT Cup at Silverstone 19/04/09 - some superb cars

Hi there,
Was at Silverstone for about 9 hours yesterday and was shooting for about 8 of those hours non stop. There was a packed schedule of racing due to the fact they had moved the meeting from Donington at the last minute, that meant eight races plus practice and qualifying all in one day.
Was a bonus for spectators though as entry to the event was free so I was suprised not to see any other threads on here.
The highlight for me was the first two rounds of the GT Cup series. This is a bit like British GT but with lower entry fees, that might be the reason why there were 35 cars on the grid with everything from a Lamborghini Gallardo to a Ferrari 355. All the races were run on the national circuit which is not the best for locations.

3) Gorgeous Aston Martin Vantage N24
4) Morgan Aero 8 leads a couple of Porsches
5) That Morgan again, it was a very photogenic car
6) Stunning Lamborghini Gallardo unfortunate not to finish the race
7) Another very pretty Vantage, this time a GT4
8) Very clean racing meant the marshalls became part of the crowd
Hope you like the pics, there are loads more to come from the Lotus Elise Trophy, Toyo Tires Racing Saloons and Production BMW in the next few days.

It was a great meeting. A bit of a learning curve again having raced endurance for so long now. The fist race in particular was rather busy at times to say the least after a messy start on my part but very clean in spite of the close quarters battles.
A little work to do to both driver and car during the season but really looking forward to future rounds. A good bunch in the paddock as well, caught up with a few old friends.
Flying back in from Taiwan in time for Brands Hatch. Can`t wait. (The old bones ached a bit on the flight out here the day after the race as I hadn`t been in the car for some months !!!!).
