FIA GT3 Silverstone............worth going? VIP Tickets

Been offered/given some Pitlane/Gridwalk tickets by a race team for this weekends FIA GT3 race at silverstone.

But I cant for the life of me see on the website or anywhere else for that matter anything about what else is going on during the weekend entertainment wise.

I obviously want to go, and appreciate the tickets are fairly exclusive as although grandstands and paddock are a free for all, it is pretty much restricted to Teams/officials on the grid prior to racing, but the lady of the house is taking some convincing and says she will be bored.


Does anyone know what else is going on during the weekend, trade stands to walk around etc?

Go, enjoy yourself and have fun. There will be stuff to do and view the Silverstone website for a full programme.

If it's this weekend the full fat FIA GT Championship is there too. So you'll get GT1 and GT2 cars too for the main British Empire Trophy race.

So yes, definately worth it I reckon.

For goodness sake go, you'll only be kicking yourself if you don't. I went with a friend and took my "not particularly interested but ok I'll go" wife with me to the Silverstone LMS race last September. Paid somebody half price for tickets at the gate which set the tone for a lovely day. Weather perfect, big crowd excellent racing. We walked the circuit, sat in all the grandstands, took some food and drink and generally would have been happy if the race had gone on for a few hours more. Just a relaxing afternoon. Oh.....and my wife did enjoy it.

FIA GT is a great meeting - I'm off with a mate. Silverstone is a bit of a yawn, but the sight of fast sportscars hammering down the Hangar Straight and into Stowe is awesome. Oh and stand on the inside of Becketts to get a good chance to assess who's really working hard.

Last year's LMS was a nightmare - free tickets are the worst idea ever. Longest queue I've ever endured for a motor race (missed the first half hour) and none of the chumps were watching...

You live quite close to me (well, next County). Why not take me instead?

Seriosuly, there will be tarde stands, etc to look at, and you might be able to get behind the pits when the race is on. But a 2 hour race can feel like a long time if you're not into cars.

Also, when you buya programme ask for some earplugs- they are free. The worst thing is to have a partner at a race who isnt interested in the racing and has a headache from the noise.
