Then you can expect the British motorsport industry as a whole to suffer, not to mention do further damage to the economy. But surely if the government support it, this lessens BE's say on which country gets a GP even more so, lessening is power and influence. Hopefully then the extra stress levels and frustration will cause him to depart this world bit sooner?

There is not a single F1 team based in the UK because of the BGP and it will be a cold day in hell before the Chinese, Indians or Malaysians build a half useful F1 car.

I know for a fact that if I hadn't been dragged along to the '87 British GP by my dad, I wouldn't be a fan of motor-racing today (and fast cars, and modding fast cars ans all the associated industries involved in that). I would still be a football fan, so would my bro and several other school friends.
If my Uncle hadn't been to see Jim Clark at the British GP, he certainly wouldn't be running his own F3 series with his own team, with his sons, and then they have their kids and kids friends who go to race weekends...
Several of the current crop of F1 drivers are fans of the sport too. How were they wowed into becoming fans? I'm guesing there's real events invloved in that too.
People become fans for 2 main reasons: they see it for real, and there is someone to support - commonly getting caught up in the hysteria of a local hero. Without a local GP the chances of British kids seeing F1 for real is greatly reduced. Of course there are all the knock-on effects of one of the kids as school having been to the GP etc...
Why do you think Britain's current generation is lacking top Basketball, Baseball, American Football, Kabadhi etc. players? Why are rarer sports always remain rare sports? Because it's not part of their heritage and/or they don't get to see it and never take an interest.
Just be cause you have no passion for it, don't underestimate the effect passion for the power of the occasion has for other people. Passion is contageous.
Cause and effect un all that, or are you saying the above is all irrelevant?
