"Shooting for a documentary feature film about the life and career in Formula One of Ayrton Senna will begin next month, British makers Working Title Films have announced.

The movie, with the backing of both the late Brazilian's family and Formula One Management, will span the great triple World Champion's years in the top category of open wheel racing between 1984 to his death at Imola ten years later.

London-based Working Title Films said the feature will explore Senna's life and work, his physical and spiritual achievements on the track, his quest for perfection and the mythical status he attained since dying at the age of 34.

With the permission of the Senna family, it will be the first documentary about the former Lotus, McLaren and Williams driver, while Formula One Management will provide footage."

This could either be very well done or terrible. Hopefully with the input of the family it could be cracking.

I really hope that they don't just show the hard nosed, single minded racer. There are some excellent stories that Gerhard Berger can tell about the side of Senna that wasn't often shown in public. Like the practical jokes they played on each other. I'm sure Ron Dennis has some stories too.

Lets face it, it's either going to be really good, or really, really bad. Fingers crossed...

It will be brilliant, or dross.

Hopefully if it is including the familys interviews and blessings, it should bring a new insight into a story oft' told.

Interviews with Berger (carbon fibre briefcase) Mansell, Prost, Piquet, Hakkinen, Hill and Brundle wouldn't go amiss either I don't think. And that's before you get to people like Ron Dennis, Peter Warr, Brian Hart, Frank Williams and Jo Ramirez.

I will look forward to it, but with trepidation.

Don't mention Thunderbirds.....I was involved with the pitch to Ford for vehicles....it was dreadful yet Ford Europe thought it was a great idea....look where it got them and want to know how much money they put into the making for automotive exposure.....millions I kid you not!

Interesting. I'll be watching/buying it regardless.

But not a fan of sports films, there's never the same tention/drama that you get in real life.

Not sure about that. Could lead to a rather flattering, sugar coated, cut.

Of course interview the family but never ever let them in the editing room.
