Where'd everbody go? (Bangers/Stocks)

Hi all....

...I used to frequent my local bangers, stocks and hotrod races at Lakeside in Scun thorpe before it became a Morrisons....the racing moved to Blyton where I went now and again but lost touch many years ago....I went back last year and the damned place was nearly empty...a couple of bangers racing, a couple of stock cars and NO hotrods....where is the racing now....?

I quite enjoy going along and watching, so if you know where the racing is at now in the Nth Lincolsnhire/Sth Yorkshire areas, please tell me.....(oh, I know about Skeg-Vegas but it's a little far)

Not what you wnat to hear, but personally I'm glad- there have been many good, solid classics which have been destroyed in this form of "entertainment", with the owners knowing full well what the histoprical importance of these cars are. They are evne proud of the fact that "ex winston Churchill" or a bentley gets thrashed then destroyed.

They bought it with their own money, what makes you think you can tell them what to do with it?

He never mentioned telling them what to do he just said he didn't like it was happening and was glad if it was dieing out. I actually agree, The stock cars were good but the bangers always seemed to be mindless and a waste of some nice machinery at times.

Have a look on the Spedeworth/Incarace site, www.spedeworth.co.uk . There are plenty of fixtures from across the Midlands and East Anglia.
If its Hot Rods your after the Ipswich Spedeweekend is taking place on the 4th & 5th of July.

Try BRISCA F1 at Sheffield Owlerton Stadium, I went last Monday. Ordinarily I would have been at Donington Park for the Aston Martin Owners Club Championships, but because of the MSA licence debacle, the meeting was cancelled. I was ageeably surprised at the level of skill, car control and race craft shown by many of the drivers and the V8 soundtrack is glorious. There were races for Ministox and an new catagory called UK Modifieds. This meeting did not have bangers otherwise I wouldn't have gone. Next F1 meeting is May 31st 1pm.

Bangers are a bit of a blot on the oval racing landscape, but they draw in the beef burger brigade and their disposable income and many meetings simple would not be profitable without them.

However once you have overlooked bangers and look at F1's, F2/Superstox, hotrods etc as Alan said there are may skilled drivers and a diverse range of complex and technically innovative machinery, (we had a superstox with F3 based front suspension at one point.).

Real stock car racing is coming back to scunny soon.

BriSCA F2 on 16 th May I think and the F1s have a few meetings later in the year.

Excellent news - I thought the eddie wright curcuit would be ideal, but didn't know how the speedway chaps would take to cars tearing the circuit up!

I see there is a bit about bangers on the web site too....I know (from reading above) that bangers aren't always that welcome, but as a spectator not a racer, I like to watch them as well as the stocks (F1's, F2's etc).....will there be the full lot racing there at some point?
