Morgan Sweeps The Board At Silverstone

Aero SuperSports win both rounds of the 2009 GT3 series opener

Morgans are flying the flag for Britain - and France - in the 2009 FIA GT3 series, with two entries winning a race apiece at the opening round at Silverstone over the weekend.

The winning pair of Aero SuperSport GT3 racers is prepared by French racing team AutoGT, with the full support of the factory in Malvern. A car driven by Scheier and Enjalbert won the opening round of the weekend, while the car of Martine and Lesoudier scored a lights-to-flag victory in race two.

Morgan sales director Matthew Parkin dropped PH a celebratory email this afternoon:

‘Not bad – in front of the Astons, Lambos, Porsche GT3 and Audi R8s…’ he quips.

Bloody well done Morgan. I've been wanting these cars to do well for the last couple of years and I'm very pleased they've delivered on the promise they started to show at the end of last year.

R8's ran well and as for Alpina.. They had a great result.
From 17th to 7th in Race 1 and 21st to 8th Race 2. Awesome.

I watched this too a great weekend the morgans sounded like merlin engines out of a spitfire,the jag xkr like chinook helicopter My favorites were the corvettes they sounded like hell on earth going past, ive took a liking to them especially the new zr1.

Reminds me of the Marcos LM600 sound, you could hear them going round the short circuit at Silverstone.

The Morgans did sound superb...and the corvettes but my favourite had to be the XKR-S in the GT3....all i can say is..the woman sat in front of me had to put her fingers in her ears everytime it went past...a totally addictive sound that made me smile all day long!!

Morgan may have been flying the flag for Britain at Silverstone, but in GT4 race there it was Ginetta flying it.

And helping OUR Brit youngsters - car No 5 broke a driveshaft but it didn't stop them.
The Dunstan/Hamilton G50, very appropriately painted BRG, finished in 5th place. No French drivers here - and their ages? 18 and 19!

Yeah, it's not just Morgan flying that Union Jack (or to be PC, Union Flag!)


Driveshaft gone, but didn't stop the pair of young G50 drivers.

Its long past time someone showed up most all other maunfacturers and their grossly obese performance cars. How is it little Morgan can do a near 400bhp car for 1100kg, and Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche think a lightweight special means shaving just 100kg from a 1500kg car?
