Renault F1 aero testing today - Duxford

I was told yesterday that Renault are testing at Duxford today and it was confirmed when I followed a car full of Renault F1 clad chaps into the Duxford facility at which point I wasn't sure I was meant to be there so I left in a hurry - I work in the main part of Duxford village so i'm 2 minutes away.
Are these things normally closed shop or would the public be able to go to something like this and have a look from afar?

Officially it's just today i think.
I reckon they are staying at the holiday inn in Histon as the car came from that direction and its the biggest hotel with easy A14 access in the area.
I can hear them from my office, some of the folk are moaning about the noise, lol.

I'm assuming that 'Renault F1 aero testing at Duxford' means blasting up & down runways to evaluate new bits of aerodynamic addenda. Doesn't this contravene the FIA's in-season testing ban? Or are there exemptions?

Teams are allowed to do straight-line testing only. No curves. When Ferrari tested in Italy a few weeks ago, they drove very slowly around the curved parts - looked very pedestrian, but I guess it did the job.

Not as good as last week yesterday as they were not running as much and too many people blocking the view due to half term

They were only going in straight lines I assure you, I heard every single run on the day from my work and you could tell it was straight runs only, blat it in 1st, 2nd - wheelspin, shortshift to 3rd, 4th, 5th and hold at a steady rpm to gather data.
The only thing they changed was the speed and always 4th gear and above from what I could hear.
I popped over after work but could not see too much as the runway was a couple of hundred metres away and security was tightish.

Offically a North American B-25D, although this one was an original RAF/RCAF Mitchell II.
Yes they are loud.....even louder from inside when flying in one, and that's from personal experience
