Loeb and Hamilton to star at Goodwood

2009 will be Hamilton's third visit to Goodwood

Both Lewis Hamilton  and Sebastien Loeb will be among the motorsport stars at this year’s Festival of Speed, the first time in the festival’s 17-year history that two current world champions will line up to run up the famous hill.

Hamilton is set to run both Ayrton Senna’s legendary 1988 championship-winning McLaren MP4/4 and his own McLaren MP4-23 from 2008.

Loeb, who is appearing at the Festival of Speed for the first time, is expected to be driving this year’s Citroen C4 WRC car, both on the forest rally stage and up the hill.

Rumours suggest that Loeb may also drive the Citroen GT supercar concept up the hill. However the GT, which also features in Gran Turismo 5, isn’t yet confirmed as running, though it will at least be on display.

Other driver and car highlights include Rally legend Walter Rohrl in a Pikes Peak Audi Quattro S1, Jackie Oliver in a Gulf-liveried Porsche 917K, and NASCAR racer Mike Skinner in a Toyota NASCAR.

Jackie Oliver wil run the classic Gulf Porsche 917K

Jenson button will also be present, but what he will be driving is as yet unconfirmed.

Looks to be a cracking line-up. Last year was slightly depleted due to the clash with Le Mans Classic, but this is stunning. Sato in the March 707 will be interesting. I saw photos of him demo'ing a BAR at the Isle of Bute event a few years ago - staggering car control. Getting thoroughly excited already.

I didn't have Andy Rouse in mind, just the car's reputation

Mr Rouse binned an RS500 at Molcomb, which is what prompted the question. Tricky beasts at the best of times; I remember seeing them as a very young child at Oulton Park - Group A BTCC was cracking.

I really hope Loeb can have the C4 in gravel spec for the forest and tarmac spec for the hill so we can compare times with other machinery.

Doubt it will happen though, he'll probably be on a gravel spec with the setup modified as much as they can for the hill as they did in Cyprus, plus tarmac wheels and tyres.

Good job Goodwood is before the end of the F1 season, or the new world champion might get the wrong idea and jog up the hill!

Hopefully Hamilton will be there on Saturday (when I won't - esp with his father) and Loeb on Friday (when I will). Looking forward to the McLarens though.

It is very over priced for the pitch space, I am paying £226 for tickets and pitch space (I am in a group of 6 so may work out more or less)

I know the tickets are 103, so that makes the camping 30 a night per person??

That does sound a little pricy - think I'll try and find a site a little further away.
