Britcar At The Nurburgring 24 Hours
Britcar founder James Tucker is no stranger to the Nurburgring 24 hours; indeed, the current championship was famously conceived during the race many years ago, and used the spirit of the event as it’s inspiration and guiding principle. This year, however, members of Britcar staff attended the race as guests of the ADAC, and championship organiser Claire Williams, there for the first time, used the trip as a fact-finding mission to explore enhancements to the Britcar’s own flagship 24 hours event.
“It was a real eye-opener, and gave us plenty of ideas on how to pursue our goal of moving the Britcar 500/24 hours to a similar status, and putting British endurance racing on the map” said Claire, adding, “Of course there are cultural and organisational differences to consider, and certain things that just wouldn’t be appropriate in the UK, but we’ll use this experience to improve our own event”.
The Britcar 500, a six-hour event this year, takes place at Silverstone on 2nd-4th October. Before that, though, the championship decamps to Spa, for a Saturday evening race into the darkness on June 27th.
