Hi chaps, it's Mark Freeman, (if anyone remembers me). I thought I'd give you guys here a heads up on the sale of my TVR Tasmin.

I competed in 2006/7. I had some problems with a broken engine (don't know the extent but it's only three races old!!!) that put paid to my second season. The guys that built the engine for me were trying too hard on the rolling road then left me for dead!!

Anyway, points of note are: 2 Full sets of rims with NEW Wets and Slix, AP RAcing 4-Pot calipers, Vented Discs, New Brake Pads, PI System, Stainless Steel custom exhaust.

For more info see the post on Ebay (by end of tonight) and my old blog at http://rumbleracing.blogspot.com.

Mr. Walden knows the full histroy of this car.

I am also selling a Brian James trailer upon which it sits!!

This thing needs to race again..... But not with me!

Ebay add says said:
It has a new custom built TVR Autocraft race prepared V6 engine which is a 3.7 litre modification of the Ford Cologne 2.8 V6 engine
Is this correct or a typo? 3.1L is now the maximum size for engines in class C. Seems like a well prepped car though.

Sorry mate, not a type just my lack of current race regulation knowledge!! It always competed in Class C, to give you an idea when the motor ran we were looking at around 243BHP and about 230lbft torque,

The car is very well prepped. Not that it's critical but, it had a total re-spray for the start of the 2007/8 Season, but we never made it past Pembrey.

Gutted, I spent in excess of 4K building the engine, and around 2K on the brake system alone!!

I just need to free up the drive and we've got a mini-me on the way!

Really sorry to hear you're selling the Taz. Hopefully it'll find a new owner to race it in the series. Good luck for the future.

Cheers Cliff. The family's growing which necessitates cash! Glad to see the T350 is up and running after all your effort. Take care and I hope to see you in the future.

No worries Kev, I trust you're well. Difficult to talk at the moment, I'm supposed to be paying attention elsewhere!! You'll most likely remember the car and know more about it than I do!! It used to live in the series before did!

If you're interested I can give you a shout tomorrow night (I have an engagement between 6.30 & 8.30 but otherwise you can call me any time of day when you get the chance. I'll PM my numbers.

As you know, I've already posted it on Ebay and as long as I don't get any bidders before we talk I think I can probably withdraw it, providing we can agree that works for each us.

Graham and Pops know the car inside and out!

AHHH!! Just tried PM'ing you but a noob can't PM for 24hrs! I couldn't blood remember my old passwords for this forum. Are you on the TVRCC forum as well? I could mail you through that route.

Small world! I worked on that site for Tullow Oil & Petrofac on that site for 4 months last summer! Know it inside out after spending weeks on the A38 compressor, Glycol system, Hewitt and Schooner and Ketch NUI platforms etc... Are you involved with the decomissioning of the old comressors and slug catchers then? I keep meaning to go back up there to visit the guys (worked under Nigel Caustin & lived out of the Wroxham Hotel for 4 months and got to know everyone pretty well). When I was last there I was going round the facility with the new ENI guys & Tullow/Petrofac working out what they wanted to rip out in order to put in the 3 new compressors down by the PIG recievers. I presume you've been working with Mike Graver/Nigel etc then? I loved working up there, great fun!

I am afraid not. I don't know the extent of the damage. It was done by the engine builder on their rolling road trying to get more power than necessary. It could be the simplest of things, especially if you have access to tools and equipment to get the engine apart, and a space to store it in whilst you do - I don't. And as I had spent so much on getting the car up to spec only to have it 'damaged' by the builder has left me brassic!!

Perhaps the simplest thing would be to drop a Cossie in which go second hand for very little money and hit the formula perfectly. You can also get an engine rebuilt by Mike Toovey in the Midlands who has been race preparing engines for a good many years and I know he put Howard Bryan's original No.13 Taz engine together.

Graham Walden is probably your best point of contact for general 'engine build' info. He races No.42 (I think) Tuscan in the series but ran the famous Pink Taz for several years prior. I raced with him at Black Cat Racing through my time in the series.

The car was first put together for me in the series by Richard and Colin at Dulford Automotive, nr Cullumpton, Devon. It was later Developed by Autocraft/TVR Craft in Salisbury.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any more questions, I'll help where I can.

Hi, yes we certainly know the car and its well put together...

it was originally build by a proffessional prep company in 2000 for Steve Beck, a regular race winner in the first couple of seasons, and may well have taken the title in year 2 or 3 cant remember off the top of my head.

Steve then moved on to racing landrovers, and the taz was parked up. mark then picked it up and it was prepped by Dulfords for him. autocraft then came onboard to supply the engines, running the speed6's for Cliff as well, unfortunately they ran into business continuity problems <LOL> causing both cliff and mark huge problems.

The car is well put together with all of the mods you would want including the ap brake upgrade( around 2 grand on its own if you bought the brakes new). I'd not hesitate in recomending it to someone looking to come into the series. The engine is a bit of a bugger and as Mark says thesimplest route would probably be to pull the 3.7 out and sell it and fit a 2.9 cossy for reliable power...

The 3.7 engine suffers from cap shuffle if over revved. It uses a 4.0 stroker crank, stock length rods and usually has opel pistons with smaller pins and bushed little ends. A girdle across the mains would help brace the bottom end. It can make good power due to it's capacity and it's also got decent compression. If the fault's not to serious it would be worth keeping or it might get good money on ebay from ford enthusiasts.

I dont think as a 3.7 it would sit well in the current TVR class limits.. but hopefully as you say it would sell well to the ford boys... the rest of the car is spot on. As a way of comparison if you were building one, of the top of my head

front brakes - 2k
cage - 0.5-1k
pi instuments- 1.5-2k
set rims - 0.5k
dampers - 1k

so there is around 6k and you havent started yet, and you'll get the car for a chunk less than 6k i bet..
