Formula 1 Ipod application

There is a new Ipod application that has been put together by former Honda F1 chief Otmar Szafnauer.

Looks pretty clever affair and very handy for anybody out and about missing the GP. It may actually be quite a good application whilst watching the race also.

What the article doesn't mention is that it costs £4.99 to use this app for the British GP or £19.99 for the season. If your out and about why not listen to the radio coverage, if you are at home why not look at the live timing online, it's free. I can't see the point in it to be honest.

Well it is what radio 5 were using in Turkey. So I shall assume other events too.

It would work pretty well while watching the race live at the trackside. You soon lose track of what's going on when watching from a single viewpoint. I've only read a brief description of what it does, but it seems very similar to what the engineers on the pitwall use to track each car's physical position around the track. A bit of a novelty, but I quite like the idea.

I tried it at Silverstone on Sunday but couldn't get a data signal all day but the app looks good - thanks O2

that's exactly what I was hoping but as said there was no data network available so it just didn't work.

You can usually get bt openzone wireless at Silverstone, or was it overloaded?

No wireless all day and 3G gave up during the race. How did we survive in the old days?
