F1 Split is off????

Pending the financial detail i.e. how much the teams are capped by in the next couple of years, this smells very strongly of FOTA effectively getting what they want.
And I'm going to have a beer or several tonight to celebrate the end of Mad Max's era and hopefully a return to sanity in F1!

Right now the racing is pretty dull.
The cars are hideously ugly.
I cant afford to attend any races.
The tracks are very boring.
Bernie is creaming hundreds of millions away from the teams.
and none of that is going to change. If anything Bernie will be emboldened by this and may take it out on the fans that he may justifiably feel have betrayed him. I would not be in the slightest bit supprised if F1 was moved to PPVTV.
In what possible way is this anything other than a very bad thing?

I've suspected that the real issues here were that FOTA wanted the cuts to be less and Max to go. Max, being an obstinate sod, said no to both and the teams, united as they now are, decided to call his bluff. And fair play to them, say I.
It seems to me that this could all have been sorted very easily if it weren't for a dictatorial FIA man lording it over everyone and a group of teams that finally decided that they didn't want to be bossed around any more.
A resolution of this sort is probably the best outcome - Spanky Max goes byebye, the teams prove that they're not to be messed with any more, and we don't have the immense uproar and confusion of two separate series - remember what happened with IRL and Champ Cars?

Not quite true, they didn't want such a small budget cap of £40m or be completely uncompetitive if they ran uncapped against new capped teams who would be able to use a higher revving Cosworth engine with 70bhp more power. They may have agreed something along the lines of £120m cap in 2010 dropping to £100m in 2011 for all teams. There was never any garuntee that FOTA splitting off would have solved any of those problems, besides the price of entry for race days which they did mention would be reduced. I suppose I could never see the FOTA thing ending in anything else than a big messRight now the racing is pretty dull.

Note that the only FOTA representative present was Luca. One of Max's beefs has always been that all the FOTA members have different agendas (and judging by pat performance and recent press releases, I think he is justified) we should wait and see what the rest of FOTA say to this.
