Oh that brings back some memories. Those power oversteer passes at the end of the clip epitomises Keke's style for me.
I will never forget the time when Williams had an agreement to run 3 cars at Brands for a GP (European in the 80's I think). In an early practice session, I was standing at Paddock, and Keke came around, followed by Palmer, who was the third driver at the time. There was an unusual sound as his Williams banged down and extra gear, and got on the power very early - like waaaaay before the apex. He went around Paddock Hill bend at close to race speed on full opposite lock with the tyres smoking, and Palmer still following.
I guess he invented drifting that day

Worst thing 'they' ever did was ban ground effect. ^ And those not knowing what ground effect did for F1, did you notice the that they didn't even need a front wing! This obviously had a massive effect on how close one car could get behind another...
I'm going to do a Great Drive vid for Keke for the 1985 South African GP when I get the chance. He was the fastest guy on the track by a mile, but spun on some oil whilst leading comfortably from teammate Mansell. He then went on a completely mental charge after Nige sliding the car around the track, clipping the dirt, skinning Prost round the outside of a corner. Even though in the last few laps he was clearly not going to close the gap, he was still on it like a madman. Amazing to watch and the difference between Rosberg taking it easy and Rosberg on the charge.
F1 these days never seems to give the drivers a chance to drive to their style too. The cars go like they are on rails... the SAME rails.

I wonder how popular the old '80s races would be if the Beeb were to show them again - not edited, not highlighted, just over 16 weekends or so just show each race of, say the 1980 season.
I loved watching the edited shows on ESPN classic, but it would be even better to see the complete races.
At least I think so.
Or even better: Stick them on BBC2 when the current races are on BBC1, and see how close the viewing numbers might be!
