When Max goes, will Ron Dennis Return?

So, many people believe that Ron Dennis stepped aside because Spanky didn't want him in F1 any more. But, now Spanky is going, and McLaren are in serious trouble on the track, will he return to help out?

Just another mad crazy thought from semi hungover, sleep deprived me.

Remember he was there when this car was approved and finalised - Jesus making a return could not turn around that Mclaren. Anyway, Ron spoke of moving to the road car wing before the Australian farce.

P.S. The biggest mods to date are arriving for Germany so we will see what happens there. Positive noises also coming out about what they may do at Hungary.

I keep wondering about that, my suspicion is that on the basis that he is a true racer he may be present at more races in the future than he has been for the last few. With the position he has at McLaren he would be perfectly entitled to be at the races as their guest, and may well be so. Having the enforced break will have enabled him to pass the baton more successfully to Martin Whitmarsh meaning that if he attends future races Ron would be able to take more of a back seat.

Although I think it is possible he won't return to a GP until MadMax has well and truely gone - which is very sad - Ron is a racer as you say

The $100m fine for cheating, and then two years later effectively being sacked for cheating are always glibly ignored on here. Yeah, of course he's totally innocent, he just paid the fine without appeal, and eventually left because he wants to build road cars.

Doubt he'll be back, or wanted back by McL (Whitmarsh and Hamilton) or Merc.

As one of the shareholders in McLaren he is very much still there, just not visible in the F1 team. I guess that if Whitmarsh didn't want him he wouldn't have stuck around working for him for 20 years, would he? Hamilton is just an employee who would have no say in it. Mercedes would want the best person for the job, Ron's track record speaks for itself.

Whitmarsh's approach is very different from Ron's. I doubt he's want him back.

Common consensus was that LH and his dad were instrumental in getting rid of RD once it was obvious he had become a liability, both to McL and the earning potential of LH.

What nonsense Deadslow posts with anything to do with Mclaren. Lewis did not want Dennis away nor was he sacked - he owns 30% of Mclaren and is currently working on the P11 Road Car - I honestly do not know were you get your information, please provide the information backing up such a pathetic statement.

Either way, I cannot WAIT for the book Dennis will inevitably write. It'll be full of some very, very juicy events, filled with some key facts that absolutely cannot be disputed, with Ron's additional view point of course, but it will be so much fun watching Spanky come out swinging trying to threaten and dispute it all. Only for people to just go 'yeah yeah'! Oooooh I'm almost drooling with anticipation!

On Whitmarsh, although they may have differing points of view I seriously doubt Martin would of been part of Ron's departure.
